Start at Jerash, one of the best-preserved Roman cities in the world, then visit the hilltop Ajloun Castle, built in the 12th century to defend against the Crusaders. Finish at Umm Qais (ancient Gadara), where you can look out over the Sea of Galilee and the Golan Heights.
Pickup and drop-off are at your hotel in Amman, and the car has air-conditioning, Wi-Fi and bottled water. Pay the entrance fees on site or use your Jordan Pass, which covers Jerash.

Itinerary and highlights
Your driver takes you north from Amman to Jerash, one of the best-preserved Roman cities in the world. Walk through Hadrian's Arch, the Hippodrome, the Oval Plaza and the long colonnaded Cardo, and see the Temple of Artemis, the Temple of Zeus and the South Theatre. You have about 3 hours to explore at your own pace.
Continue to Ajloun Castle, a 12th-century Ayyubid fortress built on a hilltop to defend the region against the Crusaders. Explore its towers, halls and passages and enjoy wide views over the green hills of northern Jordan and the Jordan Valley.
End the day at Umm Qais, the ancient Greco-Roman city of Gadara, built of black basalt on a hilltop in the far north of Jordan. See the West Theatre and the colonnaded street, then enjoy the panoramic view over the Sea of Galilee, the Golan Heights and the Yarmouk Valley before driving back to your hotel in Amman.
